We are aware of various crises such as the 2008 global financial crisis, the economic downturn starting in 2013, the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war since 2022, and the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestine since October 2023, marking a new era in the global hegemony crisis.

Having a feminist history narrative for many times we can refer to as ‘before’ those historical crisis periods. Now, what should be done, how should it be done? What about afterward? Has everything been done for a feminist world imagination, or is ‘this much enough for us’?

Mor Dayanışma would like to share with you, the need for and invitation to this international symposium that emerged from discussions held during the panels titled ‘Age of Disasters? Spiral of Crises? What should women do? Where is the way out?’ conducted throughout the summer of 2023, as well as the traditional women’s camps in three regions over the past year and the winter women’s camp.

In these times when patriarchal capitalism, manifesting itself in various forms of exploitation through war, male violence, genocide, or male-state violence, is dragging nature and humanity into destruction globally; we aim to provide examples and discussions of organized feminist struggles that shed light from Turkey’s feminist struggle and women’s movement to our era, stating ‘there is a way out.’

International feminist struggle continues to organize within multiple spaces, constantly, steadily, creatively, and transformative action practices against the rising and spreading right-wing populist powers and their male-dominated policies worldwide. Women challenging male dominance within the intersections of anti-patriarchal capitalist organizing are paving the way for a historical leap. These stones are laid in the wave of rebellion spreading with Mahsa Amini’s hair in Iran, the liberation struggle of the Kurdish women’s movement in Rojava, the feminist strike in Spain, the ‘Not in My Name’ actions against Israel’s occupation of Palestine, and many other places worldwide.

As Mor Dayanışma, approaching our 10th year in the coming days, as an organization organized in localities, embodying the political meaning of the word ‘solidarity,’ and not deviating from feminist ideology; we hope that discussing weaknesses, blockages, exits, and founding practices will contribute both to Mor Dayanışma and the feminist movement in Turkey, adding another stone to this path.

With this symposium, we aim to contribute to the mass action and programmatic unity in action of the revolutionary structure and consciousness of the feminist movement that has been flourishing on these lands for years, which we want to be formed and struggle for within the Turkey feminist movement.

Information note about the program: The symposium will consist of 2 sessions; in the morning, there will be presentations from feminists/feminist organizations from five different countries, and in the afternoon, there will be presentations from feminists and women’s organizations in Turkey. There will be a question-answer-contribution section at the end of each session. Simultaneous translation will be provided in English. You need to fill out the form below to participate.
